Project Manager (Laboratory Expansion)

    Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead laboratory expansion projects within the Boston area. This role will oversee the full project lifecycle, managing design, engineering, and construction activities for high-performance lab and life sciences facilities.

    This is a hands-on leadership role focused on execution, coordination, and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead end-to-end project management for lab expansion and buildout projects
    Coordinate across architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) teams
    Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource planning
    Oversee design development, permitting, and construction execution
    Ensure compliance with local codes, safety standards, and cGMP requirements (if applicable)
    Act as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders
    Identify and mitigate project risks, delays, and cost overruns
    Drive project meetings, reporting, and stakeholder communication
    Support vendor selection, contract management, and procurement activities

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field
    5+ years of project management experience in construction, engineering, or lab buildouts
    Proven experience managing lab, life sciences, or technical facility projects
    Strong understanding of construction processes, design coordination, and project controls
    Experience managing budgets, schedules, and cross-functional teams
    Excellent communication and leadership skills

    Preferred Experience

    Experience with biotech, pharmaceutical, or research lab environments
    Familiarity with cGMP facility requirements and cleanroom design
    Experience working in Boston/Cambridge life sciences market
    PMP certification or similar project management credentials
    Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or project management tools
